Reggaeton is a form of music that has steadily been on the rise since it first emerged around 1992 in Puerto Rico. However the genre is largely thought to have come from Panama during the late eighties when many groups started to get minor attention and build a fan base. It wasn’t long until this hybrid genre of music influenced mostly by reggae, Latin culture and music, and hip-hop is something that would quickly go own to become quite popular in Dominican Republic and Columbia. However it wasn’t long until the undeniable craze surround Reggaeton would eventually hit the United States causing an outcry of support from loyal fans and grabbing the attention of the music industry. This has cause many labels to sign Reggaeton artists in hopes of the genre possibly having an impact on the industry similar to the explosion of hip-hop and dance hall. There are many Reggaeton artists that have been able to have success in the States and continue to do so. Perhaps the most notable artist is Daddy Yankee who was quickly embraced by the culture and music industry alike. For all of these reasons, Reggaeton is something that is definitely bound to stay.
